Donnie is a gospel music singer and contemporary Christianity minister hailing from the USA. He is a multi award-wining singer proud of awards as one Dove Award, two BET Awards, three Grammy Awards, two Soul Train Awards, ten Stellar Awards and one NAACP Image Award.
McClurkin is the author of the “McClurkin Singers,” a group of group that he began when he was a teen. Afterwards, he founded another team by the title the “New York Restoration Choir” the group recorded music since 1975.
Come 1989, McClurkin was nominated as a co-minister at the Perfecting Church of Marvin Winans in Detroit, Michigan. For over ten years, McClurkin worked as an assistant to Winans. In 2001, his ordination took place and he was sent by the Winans to start the Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York, where he is now the main Pastor.

McClurkin is a son to the late Frances McClurkin and Donald Andy McClurkin Sr. His mother passed on on 18th January 2013 in Bethpage, New York, United States. He is a member of the family of six with one brother who passed away at the age of 2 and four sisters; Cheri McClurkin, Andrea McClurkin-Mellini, Tanya McClurkin, and the late Olivia McClurkin, who as well passed away on 4th November 2008. Pastor Donnie’s brother was hit and killed by a speeding car when he was two years old.
The death of the young McClurkin coursed turmoil in the family. As he struggled to let go his brother’s demise, Donnie was sexually abused by his uncle and again his uncle’s son later on. The family went through a lot again with two of his sisters completely amerced in drug abuse. With all the chaos in his life, Donnie found solace in attending church after his aunt who sang background vocals with the gospel singer, Andraé Crouch took him to Crouch. Their meeting fired McClurkin’s passion for music eventually becoming his mentor.

In 1991, McClurkin had a sudden pain and swelling, thereafter internal bleeding, that led to diagnosis of leukemia. Immediate care was recommended by the doctor, but McClurkin, who was then 31, chose to take his own advice.
