Cate started his professional career at a tender age of five, featuring in improvisational comedy, independent films, commercials, and other projects. Cate as well featured in Placebo’s music video for “Song to Say Goodbye”. He appeared in guest parts on many TV shows, among them Without a Trace and Cold Case. His most uploaded performance was as Young Ned on ABC’s Pushing Daisies, where he started the acting as a regular in season 2 and got a Young Artist Award nomination in 2008. Cate, who was raised as a vegetarian, talked on behalf of PETA, an animal rights organization. He as well supported organizations such as Mattel Children’s Hospital and was a StarPower Ambassador for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. In May 2017, his band Fencer unveiled their first EP, With; and in February 2019, they launched a music video for their single “Junebug.”Their second EP, Growing Up Selfish, was unveiled on November 1st, 2019. Their debut album, Fencer, was released on February 3rd, 2023 as a self produced album.
