Doherty featured on the TV series Boston Public, together with Northwestern graduate Jeri Ryan. He did a commercial parodying the sound effect from The Six Million Dollar Man. He is then rectified by Lee Majors, who acted the title character. Doherty will also feature in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, a Disney+ serial revival of the films, featuring co-star Emilio Estevez as Lester Averman. He began writing when he came back from the set of Mighty Ducks to his high school in South Suburban Chicago and requested the principle if he could study the variations between satire and tragedy in the same plot lines of “Fail Safe” and “Dr. Strangelove” and direct a production of a Gore Vidal satire as a stand a lone study course.
