She has a degree in radio and TV arts which she graduated with in 1996, she began a six- month contract to be a receptionist at ChumCity. She received phone calls and directed visitors on building visits. On the last day of her contract, Stephen Hurlbut, the vice president of programming, asked that she continue serving for more weeks to conduct research. Rajpal became Hurlbut’s assistant at CP24 as the channel was launched in 1997.
Rajpal thereafter was a reporter and anchor for CP24 and Citytv, where she aired stories for the “Prime time nightly news” like federal elections, teacher strikes, and homelessness Toronto.
While in his Toronto hotel room on February 2001, a CNN executive was going through the TV channels and saw Rajpal. He extended an Atlanta-based CNN International anchor place to Rajpal, who agreed and began serving at CNN in 2001.She served about 12 hours per day at the CNN center, reading news publications like The Economist and The New Yorker.
While living in Atlanta, she interviewed Ehud Barak, a former prime minister of Israel; Andre`s Pastrana Arango, the former president of Colombia ; and Moses Blah, who had just assumed office as president of Liberia. She aired news stories concerning the war on terror, Catholic church sexual abuse cases, Liberian strife, former American president Jimmy Carter’s tour to Cuba, and presidential elections in France.
Rajpal relocated to London in late 2004 where she anchored the European edition of CNN Today and the art Programme Art of Life. Come 2010, Rajpal hosted the CNN art culture programme lcon. Come the year 2011, she co-hosted World one a daily CNN International news programme while living in London.
Towards the end of 2012, Rajpal relocated from London to Hong Kong. She hosted two shows that had their debut broadcasts at the start of 2013: CNN Newscenter and TalkAsia. CNN Newscenter is a news programme that talks about international headlines, and at the same time TalkAsia is an every week programme that interviews an internationally recognized individuals for 30 minutes. Famous people she has interviewed for CNN are Mikhail Gorbachev, Vicente Fox, Al Gore, Tom Ford, and I.M. Pei. Rajpal left CNN on 4th July 2014.
