Merriman’s first major role came on the TV series The Mommies, that was on air from 1993 to 1995. He featured in many episodes of The Pretender as a younger version of the show’s major character, Jarod. He has acted in several television films, among them Smart House, The Luck of the Irish, and Lansky, in which he acts the young Meyer Lansky. He first performed in the 1999 film The Deep End of the Ocean, acting Michelle Pfeiffer’s character’s missing son, and then in the 2000 film Just Looking, as the lead character, a Jewish boy from the Bronx. He acted Adam Eddington in another Disney Channel original film, A Ring of Endless Light. He thereafter came back to television, featuring in Dangerous Child, Taken, and Smallville.
Merriman’s before then credits are; the horror flicks Halloween: Resurrection (2002), The Ring Two (2005), and Final Destination 3 (2006). He performed in Home of the Giants, a high school drama. In January 2008, he featured in Comanche Moon, a CBS miniseries. He acted Henry Dunn in Harper’s Island’s original pilot presentation before being put by Christopher Gorham when CBS took the series. Merriman acted Ian Thomas on the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2014. In 2012, he performed Dennis Mack in the 16th episode of Hawaii Five-0’s Season 2. Dwight Little wanted Merriman to act Jin Kazama in his film Tekken, but Merriman refused. In 2011, he featured as linebacker Jon Abbate in The 5th Quarter, a film about the 2006 football season of Wake Forest University.
