Steve Scully Biography

Steve is a political editor for C-SPAN, a public service TV network in the United States of America that airs many of the proceedings of the federal government’s undertakings and other public matters programming. Scully is as well a senior executive producer and political editor for C-SPAN. He co-hosts the network’s “The Weekly” show and the morning call-in show, “Washington Journal”.

On October 15th 2020, Scully was programmed to moderate the second presidential debate of the USA but the debate was annulled after President Trump withdrew. From 2006 to 2007, Scully was the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, before he worked on it’s board for nine years.

Scully was given birth to in a family of 16 children with him being the 14th. His official name is Steven L. Scully, born to Elizabeth Jane North Scully and her husband Hubert L. Scully. Among his siblings there are five sets of twins.

Between 1981 and 1982, Scully started his profession in journalism after finishing his college studies at the University of Copenhagen. His first job was at public news/talk station WAMU as a newscaster on the weekends. He then went to Erie’s WSEE-TV as a reporter and anchor in 1982 and 1983. He also served at WHBF-TV in Rock Island and WHEC-TV in Rochester as business, politics and local government correspondent.

Scully got to C-SPAN in 1990 as a White House producer and political editor. He coordinates C-SPAN’s campaign programming covering the network’s programs and is a top most producer for C-SPAN’s White House coverage.

In the fall of 2016 and ahead of the presidential elections, Scully worked as a backup moderator for all the debates. In 2020, Scully was programmed to moderate the second debate that was to take place on October 15th. However on October 9th, the Commission on Presidential Debates annulled the debate after President Donald Trump withdrew from the debate. The October 22nd 2020 third debate to be moderated by Kristen Welker is in progress.

Steve Scully’s Twitter Account

The C-SPAN political editor’s twitter account (@SteveScully) was removed after a claim of account hacking on Thursday night. Following a tweet from his Twitter account, Scully is encountering controversy as the now-removed tweet showed him reaching out to Trump’s foe Anthony Scaramucci. It is said that Scully did not really send the tweet and the incident is under investigation.
