Tanya Saracho Biography
Tanya is an American actress, dramaturge, playwright, and screenwriter born in Mexico. She is also the CEO of Teatro Luna, an all-Latina theater ensemble started in 2001 partnering with Coya Paz, an American director and poet from Colombia. For 10 good years, Saracho was a co-artistic director of the theater famous for centering the “Latina gaze”.
Before Saracho started writing for TV, she was writing for theater using her skills aquired with Teatro Luna. She has been a showrunner from 2018, on the Starz series Vida. Just after the first season of the series came to an end, it was recycled for a second season and Saracho signed up for a 3-year contract in February 2018.

Her official names are Tanya Selene Saracho from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico a doughter to Ramiro A. Saracho and Rosalina Armenta. Currently, her father served as the head customs officer with the Servicio de Administración Tributaria as well as a powerful member of the conservative Institutional Revolutionary Party.
She has two siblings: Rosalina “Fresy” Saracho and Tatiana Saracho. Her parents got divorced when they were very tender and they would spend time at both parents’ homes: in McAllen, Texas to her mother and Reynosa, Tamaulipas. She attended middle school and high school in McAllen and later went to the Boston University College of Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
