Cole relocated from New York to London at the age of 8, with his father and uncle, due to his parents’ separation. He went to Abbey Wood Secondary School in Greenwich, London. He quit school before his A-levels to pursue a profession in acting.

He was part of the crew of theater production titled Wasted! in 2009, a current reproduction of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, produced by Intermission Theater, a company that helps teenagers keep aloof from crime. In 2010, Cole got in the cast of BBC teen drama The Cut, in which he acted the part of Noah Achebe, who was introduced in the third series. Come 2011, he filmed parts in two short films titled Me and My Dad and Jasmine.

He thereafter bagged the role of Sol Levi in EastEnders: E20, a spin-off of the British soap opera EastEnders. The role demanded Cole to learn to dance and act his routine before professional dance group Flawless in the series finale. He was then featured as a regular character in soap opera Hollyoaks as Neil Cooper. Neil was part of the six new characters the programme introduced, acting the part from 2011 until the character’s demise in a bus explosion in 2012. He as well filmed a TV advert as part of the serial’s promotional push for the new characters.

The actor further featured in a 2013 episode of the BBC medical drama Holby City as Keith Potts. He also acted his first cinematic film part in Gone Too Far!, acting Razer. Their after another film role in Second Coming. Come 2014, came the role of Anthony in the miniseries The Secrets. In 2015, Cole cast the characters of Djimon Adomakoh in ITV drama Lewis and Kobina in an episode of historical series Versailles. That very year Cole as well had a brief appearance in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as the X-Wing pilot Lt. Bastian.

On October 4th, 2017, Tosin featured in the short film Father of Man. He then acted Amjad in the film Unlocked. On 22nd October 2017, it was made public that Cole had been featured in the eleventh series of Doctor Who, acting Ryan Sinclair, a companion to The Doctor, acted by Jodie Whittaker, starting in 2018.
